Congratulations to Coach Tony Young and Sycamore School Team A!  On Saturday, February 24, 2024, Sycamore School’s Quiz Bowl Team A put up a record-breaking performance at the Area IASP Junior Quiz Bowl.  With a perfect 8-0 record, the team accrued 5360 points over 160 Toss Up questions heard, and achieved 79 powers.  (A power is earned by buzzing in very early in the reading of the question before the more obvious clues are revealed.) Sycamore’s average score per match was 670 points.  This performance set a national record at NAQT tournaments, beating a record held by Kealing Middle School in Austin, Texas, for nearly ten years.  Sycamore broke the record by 15.56 average points per game.   Sycamore’s captain, Evan Ting, averaged 106.67 points per match through the first six games, with his teammates Gavin Sigua, Jeffrey Kirkendall, amd Shayen Maun also answering a hefty share of the questions.

Sycamore will participate in the NAQT Middle School National Championship Tournament to be held on the weekend of May 10-12 at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Rosemont, Illinois (near Chicago).
