Carmel High School Quiz Bowl Team Wins State Championship

In Academic Competitions, Quiz Bowl, Student Programs

Congratulations to Carmel High School’s Quiz Bowl team who went undefeated to win the 3rd Annual IASP Senior State Quiz Bowl competition!

IASP would like to thank Purdue University for their sponsorship and overwhelming support of our Academic Competitions this year and throughout the years, and the Purdue University Quiz Bowl team members who acted as moderators for all of our matches at the state finals held at Purdue on Saturday, March 5, 2022.

35 teams from across the state started this season at the four area and one virtual contests across the state.  We would like to thank the hard work of those host schools:  Crown Point, St. Joseph, Homestead and Center Grove.  We would also like to extend a special “thank you” to Sarah Benner and the Purdue Quiz Bowl team members who staffed the virtual site this year.    Based on the tournament results from January 22, we invited 16 teams to participate at this state contest in a 3-game guarantee bracket tournament.  From the initial 8 matches, the teams broke into two brackets, a winner’s bracket and a bounce-back bracket.  Teams from both brackets worked their way into the final matches.

We would also like to congratulate state runner-up, Saint Joseph High School of South Bend, and the third place team Hamilton Southeastern High School of Fishers.

The following schools were also state finalists:  Andrean High School, Merrillville; Center Grove High School, Greenwood; Chesterton High School, Crown Point High School, Culver Academies, Fishers High School, Herron High School, Indianapolis: Indiana Academy for Science, Math & Humanities, Muncie:  John Adams High School, South Bend; McCutcheon High School, Lafayette; North Central High School, Indianapolis; Sullivan High School, and Valparaiso High School.
