VERSAILLES- U.S. Representative Greg Pence visited South Ripley Junior High School Wednesday, where he toured the building, spoke with students, and honored Principal Destiny Rutzel for being named the “2018 State Middle School Principal of the Year.”

“It’s important to highlight the incredible work of our educators and those who shape the young minds of future generations,” said Rep. Pence. “South Ripley Junior High is in good hands with Principal Rutzel and a teaching staff dedicated to helping students learn and grow.”

Pence toured the school with students, met with teachers and staff and gave some remarks during an assembly in the auditorium. South Ripley Junior High has been acknowledged by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform as a “School to Watch” in 2019.

“Our students enjoyed giving the Congressman a tour of our school and they were excited to hear him speak about his job as a Congressman.” said Rutzel. “I had the pleasure of meeting with Rep. Pence in his Washington, D. C. office, and I appreciate his visit to our school today.”
