Simulated Instruction in Mathematics Professional Development

 In Uncategorized

The American Institutes for Research is conducting a study of Simulated Instruction in Mathematics Professional Development (SIM PD) program and is looking for districts with eight or more elementary schools who would like to partner with us. This program will be provided to districts and schools at no cost and teachers who participate will be compensated for their time.

SIM PD has demonstrated positive impacts on the quality of math instruction. It provides opportunities for Grade 4-5 teachers to:

1. Learn questioning and discussion facilitation strategies that promote student engagement and understanding of math concepts.

2. Collaboratively practice the strategies with fellow teachers using a simulated virtual classroom where avatar students respond to teacher actions in real time.

3. Receive support from a district or school coach who is trained by AIR to facilitate the SIM PD activities.

Please see the attached flyer or simpdstudy.com for more information about the project. If you are interested in learning more, please reach out to Leah Brown (lbrown@air.org) or schedule an information session here.
