2020 Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest Now Open!
Essays are now being accepted for the 2020 Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest! For Department of Student Programs schools, participation in this contest is FREE. For non-Department of Student Programs schools, a fee of $10 per essay will be charged. Per our policy, we do not require payment for participation prior to the event due to budget structures varying by school.
Students are asked to write an essay on the following quote from Dr. King:
“An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity”
In addition, students are asked to consider the following questions when drafting their submissions:
- How do you feel about this quote?
- What does this quote mean to you?
- How can you use these words to honor Dr. King and the life he lived?
